We’re still on Cloud 9 after a fabulous family wedding. Maya pulled off her flower girl duties LIKE A BOSS, the weather was perfect, the ceremony was beautiful and the reception was a blast.
We all loved our new SIL’s family. We ate yummy food and enjoyed time with Crystal the capuchin monkey at the rehearsal dinner. We didn’t have to drive anywhere, thanks to luxe shuttle buses to and from the event sites. The music was bumpin’ and the booze was free. A serval acted as ring bearer, handing off the baubles to my husband, the handsome best man.
BIL is quite well off so no expense was spared (example: gourmet taco truck at the end of the night!), but I have to say my two favorite touches were simple ones. The first was a cart overflowing with new Old Navy flip flops in all sizes. When my tired feet gave up the ghost toward the end of the night, I was able to literally kick off my heels and keep dancing in my new silver sandals. GENIUS.
Number two was a digital photo booth. There were props and instant prints and the lighting was universally flattering and the images were available online two days later. So many laughs (the poses got bawdier as the night wore on). Plus it gave the revelers something to do while the wedding party was off taking pictures.
The best part was getting to spend time with DH’s extended family and getting to know new family members. They are from New Orleans and we have a standing invite to visit during Mardi Gras. Life is good!
DH and I agree that of all the weddings we’ve attended, this one was the most fun. And you? Which weddings have you enjoyed most, and why?
