When SAHMs Return to Work

June 20, 2006

Since we are on the topic of stay-at-home parenthood, this entry in Berkeley Parents Network caught my eye:

I am trying to find out if there is a market for a class that I am thinking about offering. This class would help moms who are planning on returning to work after being stay-at-home moms. I envision this class to have 2 parts: the first would help mothers explore what they would like to do and would entail some self-assessment work; the second part would help mothers research jobs and employers, put together their resumes and cover letters, and bone up on their interviewing skills. Since many mothers who have been out of work for a while may feel a lack of self-confidence about their skills, this class would also serve as a support group. We would also discuss the many issues pertaining to returning to the workforce.

Thanks for your input!

I think it’s a great idea. I am sure even Linda Hirshman would approve. Feel free to offer Yvonne advice through BPN or her website.
