I, like other women have very strong opinions about abortion. When I found out I was pregnant with my second child, it came as a shock and I was completely unprepared to have another child. I decided on terminating the pregnancy and even made an appointment to get it done. I never went through with it, and my son is now 7. I am very happy about my decision to not go through with the abortion NOW, but I was glad I had a choice THEN.
Sometimes the condom breaks, sometimes you have a “night” with an ex-boyfriend that results in pregnancy, sometimes the relationship is not working out, and sometimes you just can’t afford to bring a child into the world. I’m not condoning abortion as a means of birth control, but sometimes desperate times ask for desperate measures.
But isn’t the fact that we have choices part of the beauty of living in the “United States”?? Then I read an article entitled South Dakota Bill to Ban Nearly All Abortions. It made me realize that we are going the wrong way. Why? This Bill will ban ALL abortions. All. Including if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest. Why should the Government tell you when you can and cannot have an abortion?? We have troops in Iraq, because they have an oppressive government and we want to “show them the light”. What about here?? Why are we heading into darkness??
What about all of you out there. What are your views about this Bill?? Are we heading the wrong way??
