UK Chancellor's wife gives birth

July 17, 2006

I must be in the mood to celebrate babies and pregancies – British Chancellor Gordon Brown is a father for a second time. His wife, Sarah, gave birth to a second baby boy on Monday, name not yet known.

From the BBC

The boy, who weighs 8lb, was born at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Doctors say mother and baby are doing well and Mr Brown is “absolutely delighted”

(Gordon Brown is widely believed to be the next prime minister, whenever Tony Blair gets around to stepping down.)

The Browns have a 3-year-old son, John, but this is actually their third child. Their first, a girl named Jennifer, died 10 days after she was born in 2002.
