Despite spending most of my time with my children, who have brought me shameless joy and a renewed sense of purpose, I still manage to read and watch the news and volunteer at my son's school. What makes me tick: compassion, giving, family, friends, traveling, learning foreign languages, the news, the Baby Phat rack at Macy's and reality shows. What ticks me off: judgmental people, meddlesome people, rudeness, ignorance, schoolyard bullies, dishonesty. While I don't plan to ever leave my home in Berkeley, California, I grew up on the east coast: born in New Jersey, raised in Miami, attended high school in New Hampshire and college in Boston. I have also studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. After becoming spoiled here, I don't think I could brave another New England snowstorm or the Miami heat ever again. Although as a Cuban and Puerto-Rican American, I really miss the Caribbean restaurants in Florida!
Alas, staying at home isn't a possibility, so I earn a living (and bring home those all-important health care benefits!) as a reporter for a daily newspaper. What makes me tick: compassion, generosity, family, hugs from my baby, foot rubs from my hubby, reality shows and In-N-Out burgers. What ticks me off: "The Mommy Wars," neglectful parents, dangerous drivers, bad spelling, fundamentalist wackos, and the existence of Paris Hilton. I try to feed my pre-Mommy identity with a nourishing mixture of blogging, a book club and belly dance classes. I grew up in Los Angeles, went to school in Boston and have also lived in D.C., Portland, Allentown, PA. and Sacramento. I live near my childhood home in southern California. Try as I might, I can't fathom ever leaving California again.
When I am not blogging for Mothertalkers, I work as an Associate Review Analyst in the Workers' Compensation division of Medicare Set-Aside...I know, I know...not very glamorous. I try to keep active, eat healthy, and recently participated in a half-marathon! I didn't exactly run it, but I DID complete it! 13.1 miles baby!! I was born in and still live in the Los Angeles area. I love to travel and have gone to parts of Italy and Australia, but would definitely want more stamps in my passport! |

I am a 31-year-old wife, mother to two children and writer. I have a degree in journalism and have worked as a reporter for 3.5 years at
I am a married, working mother to a 3-year-old daughter. For quite a long time, I was convinced I didn't want children. Now, I'm one of those annoying, overenthusiastic mommies who wishes she could stay home and have a whole brood of kids.
I am a 38-year-old single, working mother to two incredible children; Karina, age 13 and Cristian, age 9. I love being a mother, as my kids keep me young, hip and up-to-the-minute...(or as young, hip and up-to-the-minute as they allow me to feel).
