Mommy, How Much Do You Love Me?

March 7, 2006

I’m sure that all of you have had your child or children ask you that question. How can you respond to make your child understand? Is there a way to quantify love?

I’ve thought of responding, “more than life itself”, but does a child understand that? How about, “with all my heart”? Hmmmm…I don’t think a child would understand that either. Not really, anyways.

The reason I’m bringing this up is because of a conversation I overheard my kids having. My daughter asked my son, “I wonder how much Mommy loves us?” My 7 year old came up with THE most perfect answer. He said, “you know how much Mommy loves us? She loves us so much that she doesn’t get mad when we throw up on her.” (He had been sick a couple of weeks prior to this conversation.)

So, how would YOU answer this question, so that your kids understand?
