What’s up?

Glad to see my holiday photos put to good use — including this fundraiser for MomsRising!

It’s that time of year, folks. I am sure I am not the only one approached by friends’ and friends of friends’ non-profit organizations asking for donations. But I do want to share with you why I gave to MomsRising long before I became a staff member here, and why I continue to give annually even though it is nowhere near required of me as an employee.

MomsRising is the one organization that speaks to all of the issues I most care about: healthcare for all, fair pay, food justice and immigration reform, to name a few issues. And our organizing model, both social media campaigns and lobbying in person in in-district offices across the country and on the Hill, is unique and effective. Just check out this list of 26 victories from 2014!

I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of it all. Please do keep us — MomsRising! — in mind at any end-of-the-year charitable giving. We have a donor who has offered to match all donations dollar-for-dollar.

Thank you so much! How are you this morning?

Hi Elisa, I’m an old reader of Markos’ blog and more recently saw what you have been up to the last couple years. I will be in Berkeley Jan 6-9 for a video class with ___ and I am wondering if we can get together. Though normally I have been doing dispute resolution and writing/leading Nat’l Academy of Science report teams and working on govt process improvement and improving sustainability (mostly with transportation and natural resource agencies) the last 15 years and climate change nationally/internationally the last 5-6, what I am really working on now is how to maximally turn the ship around in the next few years before things are way worse environmentally, socially, and economically. Some of us working on state carbon initiatives (you and Markos know Yoram, right, at StandUpEconomist.com? — good progress fundraising there) are also thinking together about a wider media strategy.

Why we love our church, reason 571 or something:
While the children are practicing for the Christmas pageant Sunday morning, the priests are hosting a “cast party” for the parents, with mimosas and other festive beverages as well as snacks. At 9 a.m.! I’ll have to drink my one mimosa fast so I can get to choir practice by 9:30…

      That is a good church.

Oh that’s just…great. I want our church to do this.
