Ho Ho Ho!
Our Christmas Eve tradition is to get together with our good friends for lunch and present opening. They have two sons, ages 8 and 6, and our kids have grown up together.
In the evening we head to my aunt’s for Noche Buena festivities: tamales and presents! This is where my father’s side of the family gathers, and it can be anywhere from 20 to 40 people, depending on who might be traveling to Mexico for the holidays. It’s tradition to wait until midnight to open gifts, but with young kids we had to modify. We start opening by 10 then beat a hasty retreat to get the kids home before midnight, so Santa won’t catch them still awake.
I find this melding of cultures and customs quite amusing. 😀
Somewhere in between all this I’m hoping to find time to work out and bake cookies. The good news is, I wrapped up the wrapping last night while watching Elf with DH. Whew.
