Big Ol' Baby!

May 6, 2006

I hated being pregnant. Both times. When my daughter was born, she weighed 6 lbs., 15 oz; my son, 7 lbs., 7 oz. I remember feeling the extra weight around my belly and my back and HATING it!

So, imagine my reaction when I read the story of  Brandy Womack and Zack Patrick, the parents of a 14 lb. preemie.

14 POUNDS!!! Ouch.

Medical staff decided Womack should deliver her daughter before full term when a sonogram in the seventh month showed she already weighed about 11 pounds, nine ounces. Doctors estimated that if Womack had carried Olivia for the full nine months, the baby could have reached about 16 pounds.

Baby Olivia is finally home after nearly a month’s long stay at the hospital. Her parents said that as long as she’s healthy, they’re happy.

You know, the Mexican in me giggled when I noted where this family is from…Manteca, California. Hee, hee!
